Equity and Access
Program
The Equity and
Access Program, funded by the Department of Human Services Home and
Community Care (HACC) program, aims to assist HACC funded services
to become more responsive to the needs of clients from culturally
and linguistically diverse communities. The Cultural Planning Tool
and its implementation is a major component of this program.
The NH MRC has two Equity and Access Programs - one is
based in the Inner South which covers the local governments of Glen
Eira, Stonnington and Port Phillip, the other in Frankston and
Mornington Peninsula.
A major task of
the Equity and Access Program is to assist HACC funded services to
develop Cultural Action Plans and to assist in the annual review of
those plans. This is achieved through consultation,
resourcing of agencies, assisting in the implementation of Action
Plans and in the provision of Cross Cultural
Training.
The Equity and
Access program workers represent the NHF on a number of
sub-committees and reference groups as a way of advocating on
behalf of culturally and linguistically diverse clients and
communities.
