Assistance with Care and
Housing for the Aged Project (ACHA)
The Assistance
with Care and Housing for the Aged (ACHA) program is available to
help older people in the community with their housing
issues.
The program aims
to assist elderly clients to remain living in the community as
independently as possible by linking them to appropriate housing or
community care options. This means ensuring that they are living in
safe, affordable and suitable housing that adequately meets their
needs.
The ACHA worker is
available to meet older people by appointment and talk to them
about any concerns they may have about their current living
arrangements. Appointments can be made at the Grattan Gardens
Community Centre, or in the client's home if necessary. The worker
and the client will work together to devise a plan to address their
housing and care needs in the most effective manner. The service
aims to be as culturally sensitive, safe and flexible as
possible.
The ACHA program
assists people who:
- Live in the City
of Stonnington
- Are aged
approximately 55 years or older
- Are on a low
income
- Are renting,
living with family or friends, are boarding, and have some type of
housing or homelessness issue
