Frankston and Mornington Peninsula Aged Services
Programs
Planned Activity
Groups
The
New Hope MRC runs a Greek specific and a Multicultural Planned
Activity Group on the Mornington Peninsula.
Both programs cater to the various needs of elderly people from
culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds. These HACC
funded programs are for elderly people of CALD background who
are:
- Frail
- Living
alone
- Under
the continuous care of a friend or relative who needs
respite
- Socially
isolated and restricted in their ability to participate in social
activities outside the home
These
programs aim to provide a caring environment for the elderly and
enable them to express their cultural heritage and participate in
activities and community life.
Included
in the program are a range of indoor and outdoor activities such as
crafts, gentle exercise, music and outings to places of interest.
A
freshly prepared hot meal is included in the day's
program.

Volunteer
Coordination
The
aim of the Volunteer Coordination program is to assist socially
isolated elderly people of CALD background in Frankston and the
Mornington Peninsula, who are living in the community, with
activities that will help them to continue living independently in
their home and involved in community life.
The
Volunteer Coordinator recruits and trains bi-lingual volunteers.
Volunteers are then appropriately matched with elderly people of
CALD background living in the community. Volunteers assist in
a range of activities such as transport, providing companionship
and assistance with shopping.
For further
information please contact the Volunteer Coordinator on (03)
