Volunteers play a vital role in assisting our
Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) Clients feel less
isolated and a part of the wider community. All volunteers
are provided with training and ongoing support.
The NHF offers a
range of services to assist migrants and refugees and volunteer
assistance particularly bi-lingual volunteers are sought for the

Volunteer Computer Tutors - Broadband For
Seniors Kiosk (Prahran)
Help others explore a whole new world by
unravelling the mystery of computers and the
internet.
We are seeking mature, friendly and motivated
volunteers to work on the Broadband for Seniors
Project.
You will have basic computer knowledge and be
willing to spend a minimum of 2 hours per week teaching small
groups of seniors from all walks of life.
Your enthusiasm and patience will be
invaluable as will a sense of humour. Ability to speak a language
other than English would be useful but not
necessary.
You will receive basic training and have the
opportunity to meet lots of interesting people in a fun
environment. All equipment will be provided and you will be based
in Prahran.

Volunteer Tutors -
Refugee
Resource Centre (Footscray)
The New Hope Foundation
supports newly emerging ethnic groups and refugee/special
humanitarian entrants in the Western region of Melbourne through
our current office which is located on the 21 Victoria St,
Footscray. This resource centre for refugees, provides
access for community activities and office space and is supported
by volunteers from the community.
One of our programs is to assist refugee background students with
their school work. The Homework program provides help and
tuition to students at primary and secondary level who are refugees
or newly arrived
The program runs on Tuesday and Thursday between 4-6pm in the
Library of Gilmore Girls College, located in Barkly St.
Volunteer tutors can be teachers current or retired, university
students, senior high school students, older refugee migrants
students or other adults often retired. Previous experience
is not essential.
For those interested we also offer other volunteer opportunities in
community engagement and orientation and social support activities
with refugee groups.
Specifically, this could involve your participation in bus
orientation tours of local services with clients, nutritional
programs, awareness of local environment (flora and fauna) activity
with the Living Museum in the West, community gardening
initiatives, sewing and craft activities, setting up and/or running
internet/computer classes. All activities are targeting newly
arrived refugee groups.

Service for all Secondary school students needing assistance with
their studies.
