Refugee Resource Centre -

The New Hope Foundation supports
newly emerging ethnic groups and refugee/special humanitarian
entrants in the Western region of Melbourne through our current
office which is located on the 21 Victoria St, Footscray.
This resource centre for refugees, provides access for
community activities and office space and is supported by
volunteers from the community.
One of our programs is to assist refugee background students with
their school work. The Homework program provides help and
tuition to students at primary and secondary level who are refugees
or newly arrived
The program runs on Tuesday and Thursday between 4-6pm in the
Library of Gilmore Girls College, located in Barkly St.
Volunteer tutors can be teachers current or retired, university
students, senior high school students, older refugee migrants
students or other adults often retired. Previous experience
is not essential.
For those interested we also offer other volunteer opportunities in
community engagement and orientation and social support activities
with refugee groups.
Specifically, this could involve your participation in bus
orientation tours of local services with clients, nutritional
programs, awareness of local environment (flora and fauna) activity
with the Living Museum in the West, community gardening
initiatives, sewing and craft activities, setting up and/or running
