Volunteer

Volunteer

Volunteers play a vital role in assisting our Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) clients feel less isolated and a part of the wider community. The New Hope Foundation greatly values the support provided by our volunteers who are integral to the successful provision of programs across our Settlement, Aged Care and General services.

We are keen to hear from community members interested in working with us as volunteers. Our volunteers are required to undergo referee checks, Police Checks and Working with Children Checks. We assist interested volunteers with these checks and all volunteers are provided with training and ongoing support.

New Hope requires committed volunteers for the following program areas.  Other volunteer opportunities are also available on GoVolunteer.

Aged Care Services

Café Bazaars

New Hope Foundation’s Café Bazaars offer weekly community centre multicultural social support activities at various locations around Melbourne. The weekly activities are supported by activity volunteers who receive guidance from our Café Bazaar coordinators and are under the supervision of New Hope Foundation staff.

Our program welcomes the assistance of dedicated volunteers who are interested in supporting ethnic seniors to remain engaged and active in a group setting.

Community Visitors' Scheme

Visitors in our Community Visitors' Scheme are volunteers who set time aside each fortnight to visit and befriend a person, living in an aged care facility or in their own home, who may be experiencing loneliness or social isolation.

Volunteers are matched with an elderly resident with a similar language and cultural background. We liaise with a large number of aged care homes and service providers that inform New Hope of CALD elders who would benefit from this much valued support.

Our coordinators for the North West and South East regions of Victoria support all volunteers with information about the facility and residents.

Frankston and Mornington Peninsula Volunteer Coordination

Our Frankston and Mornington Peninsula Volunteer Coordination program recruits and trains bilingual volunteers who are matched with socially isolated elderly people of CALD background, living at home in Frankston and on the Mornington Peninsula.

We require volunteers who are keen to support our elders in a range of activities such as transport, providing companionship and assistance with shopping.
