The Community Visitors’ Scheme (CVS) is a national program that aims to enrich the quality of life of elderly people living in an aged care home or in their own home, who are socially isolated or lonely by establishing links with a volunteer community visitor.
The New Hope Foundation has been auspicing a Community Visitors’ Scheme - Friends for Older People program since 1994. Through this program, we have successfully matched a multitude of CALD volunteers with elderly CALD residents of aged care homes.
The CVS Home Visits Program seeks to match CALD volunteer visitors with CALD elderly people living at home across Victoria. This program aims to improve the wellbeing of elderly clients, by establishing new friendships, based on similar backgrounds and cultures.
The value of programs such as these is well-documented and the New Hope Foundation welcomes community members who wish to engage with our CVS programs as volunteer community visitors.
The CALD elder must meet one of the following criteria:
- Be a resident of an aged care home
- Have a Level 1, 2, 3 or 4 Home Care Package (previously known as CACPS, EACH and EACHD)
Our CVS programs operate from our office locations listed below.
